Insomnia is the story of Will dormer, a detective, who travels to Alaska in order to solve a murder case.

Insomnia is actually a remake of a Norwegian movie of the same name, and as of 2011,it remains the only movie that Nolan does not have an official writing credit..But Nolan did write the final draft of the screenplay himself and his trademark themes are well noticeable.

Insomnia is a crime-thriller movie.Even though its just 2hrs. long ,it seems much longer. The story is small and so its very difficult to not get bored at times. The movie deals a lot with "right or wrong" judgement. The villain
played by Robin Williams is brilliantly portrayed. These kinds of villains are very rare in movies and Nolan has managed to capture this one very nicely in this movie.
Al Pacino once again delivers a spot on performance.
The conversations between the cop (Al Pacino) & the villain (Robin W) are very well put..The movie shows neatly the point of views of both characters, something that is missing in most cop movies...

The cinematography by Wally P is just beautiful. The astounding beauty of the Alaskan scenery is well captured and its a sight to behold.

Nolan's trademark that of a flawed hero once again makes a comeback after Following and Memento. Many of the principles that were dug up in Insomnia are carried over to Nolan's next masterpiece, where it forms the core of yet another similarly flawed "hero".
