Another horrible week for Hollywood.Possession tops ,TDKR keeps rising on the charts.

1-The horror movie ,Possession made $9.5million in its second week to keep its top spot. The movie has so far made $33million from a $15million budget.

2-Lawless made $6million in its second week. The crime drama has made $23million so far and is doing average business.

3-This weeks new release ,The Words opened to only $5million.The romance drama starring Bradley Cooper made a poor debut. The movie also failed critically and is rated at 16%.This marks yet another poor movie from Bradley Cooper who starred in another failure ,Hit & Run ,which also sank without a trace at the box office 2 weeks back.

4-The Expendables 2 made $4.7million.The movie has so far made $75.4million domestically and $102million overseas, for a grand total of $177million.

5-Bourne Legacy made $4million for a domestic total of $103million,but has made just $61million overseas.

TDKR seems to be on its way to leave the Top 10.It made $3.2million on its 8th week pushing its domestic collection to $437million.With that TDKR overtook PiratesOTC 2 & ET to rest on #8 at the domestic list.TDKR made $603million for a worldwide total of $1.04billion with this TDKR entered the alltime grossing lists at #10.TDKR also became the 2nd movie after Avatar to make more than $100million from IMAX.

The other new release ,Cold Light Of Day starring Henry Cavill & Bruce Willis ,flopped ,debuting at #12.It also failed to make the critics happy,it has just 8% at Rottentomatoes.

Hopefully ,things might brighten up a bit more this week with the release of Resident Evil Retribution & the re-release of Pixar's Finding Nemo but this time in 3D

Batman Returns (1992)

[an excellent sequel]

Batman Returns (1992)
IMDB- 7.0
Rottentomatoes- 78
RJG Rating- 85

Penguin ,a man searching for his parents & Catwoman ,a woman seeking revenge. Are they a threat Batman can handle?

Starring- Michael Keaton,Danny DeVito,Michelle Pfeiffer
Director- Tim Burton

Tim Burton returns to direct the sequel for his blockbuster hit ,Batman.Micheal Keaton returns as Batman and joining him are Danny DeVito as Penguin & Michelle P as Catwoman.

Just as in the first movie, the cast of Returns gives a solid performance.Micheal Keaton has a more stable role this time and he does an excellent job both as Bruce and as Batman.Penguin's role would have been a completely messed up one had it not been for Danny. He is perfect for the role and gives an equally terrifying performance.Michelle P as Catwoman is another perfect cast.Even though her alter ego,Selina wasnt as good, she did a remarkably good job once she dons the Catwoman suit.Christopher Walken as Max Shreck,a cunning businessman ,too is a solid role.

While Burton's earlier movie was a disappointment in the story area ,Returns is a great improvement. The story is much more deep and is well balanced between the 3 main protagonists. But it isnt perfect either. Both Penguin's & Catwoman's origin story is weak and not well explained.Selina's sudden change into an acrobatic Catwoman is baffling. There isnt much development in Batman's character ,but since he is more focused upon this time ,we do get to see more of his side. While many have complained the story is very dark and gritty ,i found it to be much more appropriate than Batman 1989.

Tim Burton improves upon all aspects from his earlier Batman venture. While the earlier one was more limited into its 90's era fashion ,Returns has a more timeless feature in it.The pace of the movie wanders though. It drags in some parts and the objectives of the villains were weak. The final showdown was just excellent. The movie was more action oriented and intense than the first part. The music was more properly used in this as well.

Although it might not be a timeless classic ,its certainly one of the best superhero movies of the 90's
