Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum (2012)

[Another garbage from Bollywood]

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum (2012)
IMDB-6.2
RJG Rating-10

2 desperate friends travel to Goa hoping their lives would change for the better.

Starring- Ritesh Deshmukh ,Tusshar Kapoor
Director- Sachin Yardi

KSKHH is a stand alone sequel to 2005's Kyaa Kool Hain Hum ,which for some weird reason i dont understand, is called a cult comedy movie.

Tushar & Ritesh are the two main leads of the movie and both give average performances, with Ritesh being the better one of the duo.The female leads ,Neha & Sarah Jane are utterly useless and have no acting skills what so ever.

KSKHH has no story and rely solely on its string of adult jokes through out its 137min running time.
For a movie that depends solely on comedy, its in tragic shape. The adult comedy which was promoted as the highlight of the whole movie is hopeless. The jokes used are the ones that you read on the net or sms ,using them to make a movie is plain idiocy and people who enjoy this movie are idiots as well. The actors delivering these jokes make them look even more out of place by their terrible acting.
The jokes seem to have been selected just for being an adult joke and not based on their wit or for being funny.

Direction is poor. For such a movie a director is not even needed. Its so poorly made.
While many may compare this movie to Hollywoods string of adult comedies ,it should be noted that even though they too have terrible adult comedy movies ,they atleast have a story ,which sadly KSKHH doesnt have.

The music used may be nonsense but its the only thing that is good in this whole movie.

Overall,KSKHH is definitely not a movie for a sensible viewer ,its more enjoyable if you just like dumb movies.

Cars 2 (2011)

[an unwanted sequel]

Cars 2 (2011)
IMDB-6.4
RottenTomatoes-38
RJG Rating-40

Mater ,a tow truck ,gets mistaken for a spy and gets caught up in a conspiracy against the latest alternative fuel,Allinol.

Starring- Owen Wilson ,Larry the Cable Guy,Michael Caine
Director- John Lasseter

Pixar for the past 15 years have set the standard for animation movies.Every movie of theirs are noted for its advanced animation technique as well as for its endearing characters and amazing stories. In 2006,Pixar released Cars. The audience were quick to notice that something was missing. But Pixar mended the situation by making more top class movies and the whole Cars situation was forgotten. But in 2011,Pixar released the sequel,Cars 2,its 12th movie and John Lasseter's 5th directorial venture.

The animation was excellent.Pixar once again delivered great animation but failed to bring out a sensible movie.Pixar's brilliance is noticeable in the various action scenes.

The story is different and actually is kind of good ,but where it does fail is in the various plot holes and cheesy scenes. The writers have tried to bring out a different twist to the Cars series ,and spoofs plenty of Bond and other spy movies ,while this is fun at times ,no likeable characters are present to shoulder the scenes.Cars 2 doesnt feature any memorable scenes. The character that i hated most from Cars,Mater the Tow-truck,is the lead hero of the story.Lightning McQueen is more of a supporting character. The spy ,Finn McMissile (Micheal Caine), was the only character that actually turned out to be good.Any scene with Mater was just horrible and cliched.

John Lasseter ruins his memorable Toy Story career by making such a movie .Cars 2 is just another normal animated movie. His attempt to take the Cars series in another direction is noteworthy but his failure to make a good movie is a sad fact.

The soundtrack was great but the comedy was stale most of the time.

On release ,Cars 2 broke Pixar's streak of gaining universal praise. It was Pixar's first rotten movie getting 38%.Many have said it was Pixar's attempt to make quick cash from the Cars merchandise ,which is a sad thing to hear about a studio well known to bringing the best animated movies of all time.
Cars2 also disappointed in the box office and became Pixar's lowest grossing movie since Bugs Life.the first Pixar movie to fail in America.
It also became the first Pixar movie to not get nominated at the Oscars.

Overall ,Cars 2 has a kiddish storyline with the same old cliched scenes. Its not worthy to be called a Pixar movie.

Toy Story 3 (2010)

[a touching tale ,a fitting end to the classic series]

Toy Story 3 (2010)
IMDB- 8.5 (Top 250: #48)
RottenTomatoes- 99
RJG Rating- 100

The toys are mistakenly sent to Sunnyside Daycare.

Starring- Tom Hanks ,Tim Allen ,Joan Cusack
Director- Lee Unkrich

Toy Story 3 is Pixar's 11th and the final part of the Toy Story trilogy. It reunites a major section of the main cast and brings along a large new cast of toys.Unlike the previous 2, Toy Story 3 was directed by Lee Unkrich (co-directer of Toy Story 2,Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc) ,since John Lasseter was busy with Cars 2.

Animation from Pixar was top notch. The beauty and detail can be clearly seen in each scene.During Toy Story 1 & 2,Pixar hadnt mastered human animation ,but after its success in Incredibles ,Up etc Pixar uses more human characters and gives them a major role in Toy Story3.With more toy characters animation looks absolutely fantastic.

Toy Story 3's story doesnt falter or disappoint. It has the same excitement and level of fun the previous 2 films had.In addition to this ,Toy Story 3 also increases the intensity of the story. The 3rd part takes on a much larger scale.Pixar's objective to please kids as well as grown ups is very much noticeable.Toy Story 3 spoofs heist movies this time ,and its done wonderfully. The way the story pans out is beautiful yet exciting.

Direction from Lee ,equals that of Lassetter and manages to keep Toy Story 3 running in the same vein as the previous movies. This part also increases the emotional content and there are plenty of heart touching scenes. The climax is emotionally charged and the movie signs out with perfection.Toy Story 3 reaches upto the classic levels of the first part and ends up completing one of Hollywoods rarities - A perfect trilogy.

On release ,the movie was a raging success worldwide. It was the highest grossing movie of the year 2010.And the only animated movie to make more than $1 billion making it the highest grossing animated movie of all time.
Toy Story also raked up universal praise ,and was nominated for Best Picture Oscar ,making it the 3rd animated movie ever in the history of Oscars to be nominated for a Best Picture Award.Toy Story 3 earned Pixar its 4th consecutive and 6th overall, Best Animated Movie Oscar.

Overall ,Toy Story 3 is an instant classic ,a must watch !

Skyfall International Trailer

Awesome International trailer for Skyfall (James Bond 23)

Trailer #2

This trailer was absolutely just awesome.Action packed and Intense.I think this can really turn up to be a great movie !

The Hobbit now a Trilogy !

Wonderful news from The Hobbit

Peter Jackson has announced that The Hobbit will be made into a trilogy rather than 2 parts. The first 2 parts are to be released on Dec 14 2012 and Dec 13 2013 .The third part is expected to be released in 2014.

This isnt the first time such a thing has happened with Peter.Lord of The Rings was initially expected to be released in 2 parts but due to the epic nature of the source material and in order to fully capture the richness of the journey ,LOTR was made into a trilogy.

Jackson has given the same explanation for the Hobbit.Heres his full letter to the fans:

"It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made. Recently Fran, Phil and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie - and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘yes.'

We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance. The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth.

So, without further ado and on behalf of New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Wingnut Films, and the entire cast and crew of “The Hobbit” films, I’d like to announce that two films will become three.

It has been an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, "a tale that grew in the telling."

Cheers,

Peter J"

What do you think ? Can Jackson really recreate the magic again ?

Happy Birthday Mr.Nolan

Christopher Nolan celebrates his 42nd birthday today! Happy Birthday Mr.Nolan !

With 8 movies in the span of 14 years, all of them critically praised,Nolan is definitely a modern genius and a mastermind. He single handedly brought back a franchise from the dead and set it up as a standard for all other superhero movies.Inception ,one of the most mind bending and creative movie of recent times showed how deep Nolan's process of thought goes into. His movies will leave you mesmerized.

He makes movies as he sees them and doesnt bend to others will.Even though 3D was the current trend and an easy way for the creators to make big bucks,he stayed away from 3D,stating that he would use them only if it enhanced the story of the movie.
Nolan's movies are action packed and visually breathtaking ,most directors would use extensive CGI to make such scenes. But not him.He goes out of his ways trying to recreate scenes without the help of CGI,biggest example:the rotating hallway from Inception.Instead of exploiting the usage of CGI he uses it in the right quantity ,delivering the maximum pleasure.

His movies are grounded and stick to the realms of reality. And its a wonder how he made movies such as Inception & The Dark Knight Trilogy into something that the audience can relate to.Even though all his movies have an intense atmosphere around them ,at the core its all about emotions and the psychology of the characters.

Another talent of Nolan is his remarkable skill to juggle multiple timelines and stories and form a coherent story without losing his viewers attention.

Hats off to you Mr.Nolan, and thank you for giving us such entertaining ,as well as thought provoking movies.

TDKR crushes new releases

TDKR, as expected ,crushed the new releases. The only competition that drained TDKR was the Olympics.

#1-TDKR raked in $64million in its 2nd week. This was a steep decline from its $164million first wwek collection,a fall of 60%.For more details on TDKR's collection check out - TDKR 2nd week

#2-Ice Age 4 was least bothered with the new releases as it stuck to its 2nd spot in its 3rd week.It made $13million to bring its domestic total to $114million.But its main business came from overseas,it made $511million.Ice Age 4 has become the top grossing animated movie of the year making $626million and beating Madagascar 3 ($501million).

#3-The Watch ,one of the new releases couldnt attract the crowds and turned out to be a big dissappoint both critically as well as financially. The movie made only $13million and was rated 14% at Rottentomatoes.

#4-Step Up 4 ,the other new release also tanked on release making just 11.8million.The 4th part of the Step Up series too wasnt well received at the hands of the critics. It got a negative rating of 35%.

#5-Ted fell to the 5th spot making just $7.3million.But this isnt much of a bad news, since Ted has been a big hit since Day 1 of its release. The movie has made $233million worldwide and has been the suprise hit of the year.

Diary Of a Wimpy Kid 3 & Total Recall are the new releases this week. Will TDKR hold strong in week #3 or will the new releases topple the Knight?

TDKR Day 10 (2nd Week collection)

Even though it fell steeply ,TDKR still made a strong $64 million in its second week. The start of the Olympics was said to be a factor in TDKR's decline.
So far TDKR has made $289 million in its domestic collection ,and thus entering the Top 50 domestic grossing movies list. Also due to strong foreign collections of $248 million ,TDKR also crossed the $500million milestone.

Not much changes in both Rottentomatoes & IMDB as TDKR stands firm at 87% (229+/35-) and 9.1(#10 in Top 250) respectively.

TDKR is the 3rd fastest movie to make $250million domestically (9days).It is outshone only by Dark Knight (8days) and Avengers (6days).
As of now TDKR is the 2nd most grossing movies (domestic & worldwide) in the Batman series .TDK stands first with $533m & $1b.

Bane's voice had attracted attention back in December, when his voice was too garbled to be actually understood.Thankfully this was immediately fixed in post production.

The Lorax (2012)

[Ends up as an extremely kiddish movie]

The Lorax (2012)
IMDB- 6.5
Rottentomatoes- 55
RJG Rating- 35

Lorax ,the guardian of the forest ,arrives to stop a person from cutting down the forest.

Starring- Danny DeVito,Ed Helms ,Zac Efron
Director- Chris Renaud

The Lorax is a tale from a series of books by Dr.Seuss.But the movie doesnt stick to the original story but rather takes the easy route and presents a movie high on visuals but low on quality.

Animation for the movie is very colourful and beautiful. It has the certain look that can be expected from a movie based on Dr.Seuss books.

Being an environmental movie its main tale is about taking care of the nature etc.But unlike movies such as WallE ,that was interesting for all ages ,Lorax caters only to the kids.Idiocy is written all over the movie for the sensible viewers. The characters arent very likeable and even the Lorax has no real purpose in the movie.Lots of unwanted characters such as the high pitched walking fish are too commercialized and is just there to sell the movie to kids.

The movie is partially musical but none of the songs are memorable or even good. The movie fails as a comedy too.

Direction is below average.Lorax could have been a much more better movie but by commercializing the movie just for kids ,it turns up to be just another casual animated movie.Unfortunately ,this isnt the age for such movies.Lorax takes the easy route throughout the movie and fails to impart any message to its viewers.

Overall ,Lorax isnt very memorable. It appeals to kids but is a timepass for others.

Cloud Atlas Trailer

A fascinating new trailer for Wachowski's Cloud Atlas.

Trailer #1

Its a long trailer but filled with all kinds of visuals and supported by an excellent soundtrack.Tom Hanks & Halle Berry lead this star studded movie. Will this redeem the Wachowski's from recent mistakes and take them back to their former glory days (Matrix era)? I just hope this doesnt turn up like Speed Racer.

TDKR @ Day 5

TDKR added another $17.7 million bringing its domestic total to $198 million.

In Rottentomatoes ,TDKR jumped back to 86% after 252 votes.

Pic from Cloud Atlas

First Pic from Wachowski's Cloud Atlas. The movie stars Tom Hanks & Halle Berry.

The synopsis for Cloud Atlas is:
'Six stories set in a different time and place become intricately related to each other.'

All the 6 stories feature the same set of actors. Its sort of a mind bending story. The Wachowskis are known for their classic -The Matrix ,and are returning to direction after 2008's flop ,Speed Racer. They had a good reputation once ,but squandered it on projects such as Matrix 3,Speed Racer & Ninja Assassin.
Cloud Atlas has a release date for October 26 and Im not convinced from this pic that they are bringing a sensible movie.

[REC]3 Génesis (2012)

[fails to uphold the standard set by REC 1]

[REC]³ Génesis (2012) (Spanish)
IMDB- 5.6
RJG Rating- 35

A deadly virus gatecrashes a wedding reception.

Starring- Leticia Dolera,Diego Martín
Director- Paco Plaza

Rec is one of the best horror movies of recent times. It was a first person point of view type movie with all its shakiness and terror and a jaw dropping climax.Rec2 followed on Rec's heel but ended up biting off more than it could chew by adding too much religion into the mix.

Unlike its predecessor ,Rec 3 goes completely out of its way. After the first 20min,Rec3 drops the First Person POV and adopts the normal camera mode. The movie takes place outside the building (setting for the REC1&2) and takes place at a wedding hall.

The cast are also new to the series.Everyone was average including the main leads.

The story was not very great and didnt match up to the previous entries. As typical horror movies , the characters were made out to be idiots who lacked any common sense. The religious overtones ruin the story's intensity.

Direction by Placo was poor.Taking out the vital ingredients of the main movie makes Rec 3 more of a stand alone than part of the series. And even as a standalone its pretty tame. The horror element is weak and other than some sudden screaming ,theres nothing too scary in Rec3.Substituting for horror is the romance. It would have been okay if it wasnt a horror movie. The usual cliches of romance can be found.Usually the climax of the REC series are known to be shocking ,but Rec 3 fails to deliver a such a climax, instead it gives us one of the most idiotic things a character could ever do in a horror movie.

Overall ,Rec fans will be disappointed ,while for others its a timepass horror movie.

TDKR makes its Grand Debut on a Dark weekend

#1-As expected TDKR stole the show and made its debut at #1 with a solid $160million ,which is the 3rd best opening after Harry Potter 7 and Avengers. From the details available ,TDKR made 88million overseas ,bringing its total collections to $249million.
Even though the movie went off to a superb start with $30.6 million in its midnight run, the Colorado tragedy which left 12 dead ,seems to have slowed the Knight. But considering TDKR doesnt cater to 3D market like the other 2 ,TDKR set the record for the highest 2D Opening Weekend.TDKR made a strong 80million tying up with Avengers on Day 1 ,but after Day 1 the excitement dried up.

#2-Ice Age 4 fell by 50% to $20million in its second week.

#3-Amazing Spiderman fell even more sharply ,by 60% ,and just made $10million in its 3rd week.As of now it has made $228million in the US.

#4- Ted made $10million in its 4th week.It has been the summer surprise hit much like The Hangover.

#5-From the top 10 ,Brave was the only one that had a fall less than 50%.Brave made $6million this week falling just by 45%.

Anger Management [1x05]

Anger Management [1x05] Charlie Tries to Prove Therapy is Legit
TV com Rating- -
RJG Rating- 5.5

Charlie finds a new girlfriend ,but her beliefs worry him a bit.

The episode was overall dull. The cameo from Denise Richards was the main highlight. The jokes were not too sharp and most of it centered on the real life of Charlie.

My general review of the show is done with this episode. After 5 lukewarm episode, Anger Management just isnt that funny.Charlie does his best ,but he looks too tired and exhausted and doesnt give the audience any energy or reason to watch the show.
As for the jokes ,AM tries pretty hard to churn up some good ones ,but the best are based on Charlie's real life. For ex:This episode the main reason Denise Richards was the shows highlight is because shes Charlie Sheen's ex in real life. The show just doesnt have its own comedy.Theres plenty of adult matter (bit more than 2 and a half men), but that too turns to be mostly stale. The cast other than Charlie are too weak to stand on their own.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

[cheesy and overburden with weak plot points]

Spider-Man 3 (2007)
IMDB- 6.3
Rottentomatoes- 63
RJG Rating- 30

Spiderman, now a big celebrity in NewYork, faces threats from new villains - Sandman & Venom.

Starring- Tobey Maguire,Kirsten Dunst,James Franco,Thomas Haden
Director- Sam Raimi

Every trilogy, especially ones that gives us a brilliant first and second part ,faces great anticipation and hype for the final part ,and with this great pressure it falters and disappoints big time.Very few have succeeded (Lord Of the Rings) ,while many of the greats fail (Godfather,X-Men etc). The Spiderman trilogy unfortunately fails to uphold the quality of the first and second part (though i didn like the 2nd part, its considered by many to be one of the best superhero movies).

Tobey once again dons the mask of Spiderman.Even though he still isnt the right choice to play the superhero ,but he does give his best performance as Peter Parker in Spiderman 3.The scenes in which he is affected with Venom ,is the sort of attitude Parker should have had ,a more carefree and smart-ass attitude. But still Tobey is too innocent to play this role.Kirsten has nothing special to do other than get depressed and kidnapped by the villain (as usual).James Franco has been the only good actor among the main cast.In Spiderman 3 he gets a bigger role ,and once again he gets it right. While the actors portraying the villain have been the highlights in the last 2 parts ,Thomas Haden as Sandman is a complete disappointment ,while Venom should have been given more priority.

The story of Spiderman 3 ,is more diverse and bigger than the previous 2.It brings a couple of important characters from the Spiderman Universe ,but then it fails to give a proper story to any of them. The story just rambles on and on and just doesnt stop. The finale is poor and doesnt bother to close all the loose ends.

Sam Raimi who tipped the scales on the cheesiness in Part 2 ,goes overboard on Part 3.The movie is too long and have too many unnecessary subplots.Raimi fails to connect many plot points leaving him too much to handle in the climax. And unlike the previous 2 ,part 3 is more dark in theme.

The visual effects have been more developed and blends in Sandman ,Venom & Spiderman smoothly. But unlike the previous 2 the movie doesnt have any great action sequences. And the finale fight was too corny.

On release ,Spiderman 3 was a raging box office success breaking all kinds of records. It set the opening weekend record (151million) ,among others.Even though it failed to beat the domestic collection of the first 2 parts,it did great business overseas. As of now ,it has earned the most ($890million) in the Spiderman Series (including the 2012 reboot).
But critics were not too happy and agreed that it was a disappointing sequel.Unlike the first 2 parts ,Spiderman 3 failed to get nominated for any awards at the Oscars.

Overall ,Spiderman 3 is just for the fans .The movie will generally be fun for kids ,but boring & cheesy for others.

TDKR DAY 1 Midnight Collections

TDKR opened to sold out crowds today.Unfortunately the shootout at Colorado has made this day a dark day indeed.Atleast 12 died and more than 50 were injured in the horrible shootout.

Still TDKR made the second highest collection from midnight shows on debut with $30.6 million. In comparison ,The Avengers made $18.7 million on its midnight debut. The first place is held securely by Harry Potter 7 Part 2( $43.5million )

With such an opening ,TDKR was expected to reach Avengers opening record ,but due to the Collarado incident it may affect TDKR heavily.

Meanwhile on Rottentomatoes ,TDKR is at 86% (181+/30-) ,with a strong 94% audience rating

Christopher Nolan's statement on the horrific tragedy in Colorado:

"Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of 'The Dark Knight Rises,' I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theater is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."

Spiderman 2 (2004)

[Lack of a new story hurts this sequel]

Spider-Man 2 (2004)
IMDB- 7.5
Rottentomatoes- 93
RJG Rating- 40

Spiderman deals with the downsides of being a superhero as a new villain creates havoc.

Starring- Tobey Maguire,Kirsten Dunst,Alfred Molina,James Franco
Director- Sam Raimi

Spiderman 2 is the sequel of the blockbuster 2002 version .The movie unites Sam Raimi and the original cast.

Tobey has definitely improved in Spiderman 2 ,but hes still imperfect as Peter Parker.Kirsten Dunst plays the usual damsel in distress and doesnt bring much on board.James Franco has a larger role and he does his best in such a limited role.Alfred Molina as Doc Ock does a great job.He is able to portray perfectly the split personalities of Doc Ock.

The story for Spiderman 2 is its most weakest point.Watching this felt like deja vu.The story is just a more polished version of the first part. For example:Green Goblin had a split personality,Doc Ock too has dual minds. While Mary Jane is the sole victim in trouble in Part 1 ,Aunt May is the sole victim in the 2nd.Both are rescued and given a swing tour around NewYork by Spidey. While Aunt May is injured by Goblin in Part 1 ,Mary Jane is kidnapped by Doc in Part2.In both these instances ,Parker is the main catalyst. And the list goes on and on.

Another issue with the story is the lack of any development in Peter Parker's personality.Even after 2 years ,hes still the nerdy kid who is still extremely shy.In any other movie, this may be acceptable ,but hes Spiderman in this one !

The story needlessly brings certain issues that is plain silly.Spiderman losing his powers for no apparent reason,Doc Ock creating a 'sun' etc. These could have been good plot points ,but the reasons they give are too vague and are left unexplained.

A superhero uses an alter ego to protect his real life family & friends.Peter Parker doesnt understand this concept.Villains hurt him and his family ,because almost EVERYONE knows that Parker meets with Spiderman and thus in both movies ,Parker is punished for being connected with Spiderman.

As i mentioned in my previous review of Spiderman ,Sam Raimi maintained a very careful balance between fun & cheesiness in the first part ,but he unfortunately tips the scales in part 2.Plenty of scenes are cheesy and forgettable.

The action scenes are very much improved and exciting. The best one is definitely the train fight. The visual effects are utilized better and gives Spider-Man the cool factor that made him a hit in the comics.

On release ,Spiderman 2 was a big hit among the critics but fell short of its record breaking predecessor in terms of box office collection.

Overall ,fans of Spiderman will be pleased but if you are looking for a continuation to where Spiderman let off youll be disappointed.

Up (2009)

[a beautiful tale of romance & adventure]

Up (2009)
IMDB- 8.3 (Top 250: #108)
RottenTomatoes- 98
RJG Rating- 100

A grumpy old man sets out on an adventure ,mistakenly taking along an enthusiastic kid.

Starring- Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer, Jordan Nagai ,Bob Peterson
Director- Pete Docter

Up is Pixar's 10th movie and Pete Docter's 2nd after Monster's Inc.

In the animation department,Pixar tops it as always.Up gives a unique touch to their characters. And the amazing scenery and the colourful look of the movie are a sight to behold.

At the time of release, Up's various promos focused just on the floating house. But it was a big surprise to find out that it was just the first quarter of that movie and a whole new adventure lay before you.The whole experience of seeing Up is just fresh. But Pixar never stop at this,it puts in a lot of heart into what it makes. For example, the most memorable scene from Up is the opening scene featuring Carl & Ellie. It lasts for 8-10min ,but within this short time Pete Docter presents one of the most heart warming romantic montages of all time! That entire scene is supported by the equally soulful music by Michael Giacchino. This one scene powers the entire movie forward.

The story is a completely fresh tale. Its propelled by fantasy but makes an effort to be as realistic as possible.Up tells a story thats fun for all ages.It has deep thoughts embedded in the second half for the grown ups ,but it also manages to keep the kids engaged.

Direction from Pete is amazing.Up moves smoothly through romance ,comedy ,drama and adventure. It never dulls even for a second.Pete experiments with a much larger environment than previous Pixar endeavors. The skies and the natural landscape of South America is used beautifully.

On release ,Up like its predecessors was a critical & financial success and made $731million worldwide.Up was nominated for 5 Oscars and was the second animated movie (after Beauty & the Beast) to get nominated for Best Picture.Pixar nabbed its 3rd consecutive Best Animated Award with Up.

Overall ,Up joins the ranks of Pixar's classics and is a definite must watch.

Spiderman 2 (2004)

[Lack of story hurts this sequel]

Spiderman 2 (2004)
