For almost a year, the plot of Super8 was kept a tightly bound secret.The plot is this,an alien desperate to return home causes havoc in the lives of a nearby town..JJ Abrams once again followed the "Cloverfield" type direction by keeping the alien unknown for most of the time..The lead performances by the child artists and the suspense filled atmosphere turned Super 8 into a great movie...





32-Thor

No one expected much of Thor...The superhero wasnt as well known as,say Iron-man or Hulk...But Thor turned out to be great due to its beautiful visual effects and performances by the lead characters..Tom Hiddlestone as Loki gave a brilliant performance...

The movie also didn't take itself too seriously and this helped the movie to find favor among the crowd..



31-Puss In Boots


A spin-off from the popular Shrek franchise ,Puss in boots delivered on its brilliantly animated action shots and a crazy trip back to the fairy tale lands.








30-Devil's Double

This movie captured the terror spread by Uday Hussein..The movie rambles forward but its the dynamic dual performance of Dominic Cooper that captivates the viewers..
29-Super



Many may find it similar to last years hit,Kick-Ass,but Super is merely another point of view of vigilantism...The movie starts of as a comedy but as the movie progresses it takes up action,drama and ends up as a thriller.







28-Submarine



An artistic movie about a boys first crush and his families problems.The acting by the lead was great and the direction was perfect too..

27-InsidiousEasily the best Horror movie of the year.Insidious was simple yet came with a new concept..Its most likeable part was it avoided the most general horror movie cliches..







26-Fast 5


The Fast & Furious series have been ridiculed for a long time for their story and acting ...And the 5th part was already labelled as an unnecessary addition to the series..

But when the movie did hit the cinemas,it took the critics in for a big surprise.. 

Fast 5 focused completely on its strong points,that being, car chases and Vin Diesel...And they also brought in crowd favorite macho ,Dwayne "Rock"...The result? A heist movie in Rio with plenty of action scenes and car chases...The story was simple enough and solid..Fast 5 rejuvenated the entire series...(the 6th and 7th are now being made back to back)




25-The Flowers Of War (Chinese)



The much awaited Chinese war movie Flowers Of War consisted of some brilliant depictions of the Nanking Massacre and Christian Bale's performance made the movie more powerful...








24-Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Could the hit director of legendary animated movies Incredibles & Ratatouille bring life into the stale Mission Impossible series?
Yes,he did...MI4 very easily can boast to have the best action scenes of 2011..The cast is top notch and each actor brings a certain charm to their respective roles...









23-Fright Night

Vampire have lost their fearsome character due to the whole "Twilight Series" ,but Fright Night brought back the cool yet dangerous vampire...
Even though the movie bombed at the box-office,FN was was a very good remake of the 1985 version...
Upcoming actor Anton and the classy Colin Farrell made this movie a fun movie to watch..A mix of Thriller-Comic-Action movie..





22-Tower Heist

A surprise addition to the list ,but Tower Heist was just an amazing get together of the lead actors..











21-Beginners

A romantic and philosophical movie with a great cast performance..












20-Adjustment Bureau

This movie had a very interesting concept and with an excellent cast ,Adjustment Bureau turned out to be great..The chemistry between Matt Damon and Emily Blunt was perfect and it made this romantic thriller one of the best of the year...









19-Warrior

Warrior is the best sports themed movie of the year..The performances of both Tom Hardy and Joel E were top notch ..The movie also had some brilliant fight scenes.











18-Hugo


Hugo not only delivers on its story ,its brought to life by its outstanding actors and beautiful cinematography...











17-Our Idiot Brother


A story about a simplistic man who gets in trouble with his sisters..Paul Rudd's performance as the lead is his best and it makes the movie more endearing...The supporting cast was solid and the movie a blend of comedy and drama was well directed..



16-Drive

A mysterious unnamed man,known only as the Driver, lives life as a stunt driver, mechanic and also as a getaway driver...
Ryan Gosling proved his acting prowess with this movie..Drive has been praised for its artistic approach to what could have been another action pumped action movie..








15-Adventures Of Tintin

Speilberg returns to the big screen with another adventurous tale..The spacial effects and the action scenes make this movie just a treat for all..













14-Tiker Tailor Soldier Spy

A much awaited movie and it didn't disappoint..Having one of the best assembled cast members ,the movie was from start to finish a proper spy thriller...















13-Bridesmaids 

Hearing its main synopsis,many said it was"The Hangover"for girls..It turned out to be not only better than The Hangover but attracted universal praise for its raunchy and wild comedy...









12-We Bought A Zoo

Matt Damon once again lightens up the screen with his undeniable charm...WBAZ was a sweet charming movie...


11-Carnage

Roman Polaski delivers a classic comedy...The whole movie is boosted with fantastic performances of the cast,and the sharp dialogues...



10-Paul

Whenever Simon Pegg and Nick Frost join forces the movie just turns out to be brilliant..Joining them this time was Director Greg Mottola (Superbad) and Seth Rogen.. The movie was outright funny till the end..The numerous alien jokes and the undeniable buddy-buddy chemistry between Simon,Nick and Seth make this movie a fun film to watch..





9-Attack The Block

A British movie about alien invasion in a gangster area...Could that be any good?Yep,it was...even though it was low budget movie,the crew made the movie with what they had and it turned out to be a great..It was a thriller-comedy that boasted of some great performances from the cast..



8-Crazy Stupid Love

This was a kind of romantic-drama-comedy with a brillaint cast..Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling carried the whole movie with complete ease..The movie itself was fun and had its own fair share of twists and turn...



7-The Artist (French)

A beautiful black and white silent movie...Artist is a delight due to the main performances of Jean & Berenice..



6-Arthur Christmas

A delightful and enjoyable movie with a brilliant set of characters and a new concept of the whole Santa legend..The Best animated Movie of 2011!!



5-Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2

After almost a decade the final Harry potter movie hit the screens and gave a grand finale to the entire Harry Potter series...From the start to the finish,the movie was fast and filled with action as Harry approached his final quest....
The performance of Alan Rickaman as Snape was widely appreciated..



4-Source Code

This was Duncan Jones's second attempt as a director after his critically appreciated "Moon" ...With a bigger budget,cast and visual effects Source Code carried a lot of expectations..And it satisfied all of them..The story was as twisted and ingenious as most expected and along with great performances from the lead cast the movie was not only fun but also ingenious..



3- X-Men:First Class

First class was a reboot, and it was given low expectations..But when it did hit the screens it turned out to be the best of the whole X-men Series...Micheal Fassbender as Magneto and James McAvoy as Xavier were both brilliant...Backed up by a good supporting cast this movie was another suprise hit of the summer..





2- The Intouchables (French)

This French was a delightful movie which not only was a true story but boasts of superb performances...A hilarious movie ,one of the best movies to come from the French...



1-Rise of The Planet of Apes

Not much hope was there in this movie when its first trailers were released,but the movie exceeded expectations of both viewers and critics..Performances of Andy Serkis as Ceaser was praised...
This movie was high in both drama and action...The best of the year..
