Brave (2012)

[not upto Pixar standards in story telling]

Brave (2012)
IMDB- 7.4
RottenTomatoes- 78%
RJG Rating-65

Animation of Brave is outright brilliant. This is one sector that Pixar has yet to fail in.The beautiful scenery and characters will definitely be a feast to the eyes.

But Brave falters in every other department. Its story ,which is without doubt a well knit fantasy tale, will mainly attract only the kids.Brave doesnt have much room for story and holds onto just one direct tale ,without any other sub plots. As for this one direct story ,its extremely kiddish in its concept, something which Pixar usually doesnt do.On top of that ,the story doesnt hold many twists ,and follows a predictable route.
But the story has its plus sides too.Compared to most other movies of the same genre ,Brave does promote some great family values and doesnt stumble into much of cliches

Direction is average.Mark Andrews ,Pixar's new member, tries his best but cant match the standards set up by the previous Pixar directors.Ofcourse comparing Brave to the the classics of animation is unfair.Brave is good movie but isnt great. It tries to keep both adults and kids happy but it just doesnt blend the story right.

Overall ,Brave may have not been the fabulous return Pixar hoped for after the terrible Cars 2 ,but its a one time watch for the adults and will keep the kids happy.

Animation- 5/5
Story- 2/5
Direction- 3/5
Action- 3.5/5
Drama- 4/5
