Battleship (2012)

[poor start ,great finish]

Hopper ,a reckless navy officer ,is put to the test when he and a couple other destroyer ships are forced to face an alien invasion.

Starring- Taylor Kitsch,Tadanobu Asano,Alexander SkarsgÄrd
Director- Peter Berg

Battleship is a movie surprisingly adapted from the board game of the same name. How thats even possible is certainly a wonder ,but the movie doesnt do much justice to the game.

Taylor K as the main hero does an okay job.He along with the rest of the cast were over the top.Rihanna was completely useless,Alexander was a saving grace ,Brooklyn was just eye candy,Liam does his usual in his cameo.

Battleships story is nothing special.Even though its said to be adapted from the board game ,its silly to even connect this movie to the game.On a stand alone basis ,the movie was the typical alien invasion story that is served every summer from Hollywood. The movie has plenty of plot holes and the first half needlessly stretched. The part where the board game's setup is done is interesting but it feels like a forced attempt.

The direction is generally poor and heavily inspired by the likes of Micheal Bay.Other than the finale ,the rest of the movie was too long ,silly ,and full of needless CGI.The action scenes could have been better but they were completely exploited with closeup shots and too many explosions. There were plenty of corny scenes & dialogues that dragged the movie pace. The aliens weren't too thought up of either. The only highlight of the movie was the last part (where the real Battleship comes to play) which turned out to be pretty exciting compared to the rest of the movie.

Overall Battleship is just another mindless popcorn movie.A timepass movie for action lovers and those who love ships.
