The Middle [3x18]

The Middle [3x18] Leap Year
TV com Rating-9.1
RJG Rating-10

Sue's birthday falls on the Leap Day and she expects a surprise party, while Mike's late night outing reveals a secret hes been hiding for 7 years..

Unbelievably ,Middle pulls off yet another sweet and charming episode..The climax is so heart warming that ...i dono...it just melts your heart...Not in any dramatical way,but in a funny yet emotional way..Hats off to the writers..

Walking Dead [2x11]

Walking Dead [2x11] Judge, Jury, Executioner
TV com Rating-8.2
RJG Rating-3

Rick And Shane consider killing their prisoner off..Dale objects..

And here we go again...Another pathetic episode...seriously what is going on?...
They waste an entire episode discussing whether they should kill the prisoner [who was rescued by Rick from a group of zombies and nursed back to health]..Almost 3 episodes are wasted for this prisoner...And this prisoner is a 18 year old kid, whose only crime is he had joined anoother group out of necessity and knows the whereabouts of the Rick & teams location..Just kill him if you need to,just do it..but no..a long long conversation takes place...and the only guy who objects is Dale..will he change their minds before sundown?

Another excruciating and untolerable character is the kid...I just wished he would get eaten by a zombie already..Too much..
Lori is another over the top charecter...She does no good justs walks around and talks crap..
And considering the twist this episode <SPOILER> Dale dies in the end,his death is stretched for almost 10 min...People are deciding whether to kill him or let him struggle and die on his own...
If this was some B-grade zombie movie i could have let this pass, but for a new-age and slick show as Walking Dead (as shown in Season1),all this is unacceptable...Now referring to the comic book (on which the show is adapted from) ,Dale doesnt die such a meek death..He doesnt even die this early..

I suppose the next episode will be wasted on the kid mourning that it was his fault that the zombie escaped and killed Dale...
This is getting worse than Terra Nova...

Young Adult (2011)

[A Boring & Predictable Movie]

Young Adult (2011)
IMDB-7
RottenTomatoes-82
RJG Rating-45

Mavis ,a writer ,returns to her hometown to win back her ex-boyfriend ,who by the way is a happily married man.

Starring- Charleze Theron
Director- Jason Reitman

Jason's 4th movie after the charming Thank-You For Smoking ,Juno & Up In the Air...Unfortunately Young Adult fails to charm like the previous 3...

Charleze gives a fine performance as the lead..The supporting cast was also quite good..

Story is what's missing..Its a very simple plot disguised as a very philosophical movie of sorts..Another weakness is its highly predictable end...

The ending also failed to tighten up the loose ends of the characters..
The movie is a dark-comedy..There are scenes of humour, but Jason R isnt able to deliver them..

The movie may appeal to serious viewers but not for all..

Carnage (2011)

Carnage (2011)
IMDB-7.5
RottenTomatoes-71
RJG Rating-95

Two pairs of parents have a meeting after their sons get into a fight.

Starring- Jodie Foster,Kate Winslet,Christoph Waltz,John C. Reilly
Director- Roman Polanski

Carnage is a comedy movie..But it doesn't involve slapstick humour or over the top gags...The comedy exists purely in the dialogue and the way its presented by the cast..

The cast is solid...What else can you expect when 3 out of 4 are previous Oscar winners..Everyone puts their best acting performance up on screen..And its just beautiful to see how each one dishes out such flawless performance..When you feel as if one actor steals the show, the other will immediately follow it up with an equally engaging act...Just their facial expressions are enough for the comedy to take effect..

Story is also quite strong...The history of each character is brought forward through dialogues and phone calls...The story never loses pace even though nothing much happens..

Direction is top-notch...Roman Polaski (director of The Pianist) gives another gem through Carnage...Just with a span of 80 min he is able to capture the audiences attention..The strength of the movie can be seen how it happens in real time (no cuts ,flash backs etc) ,takes place most of the time in the living room of the flat, and solely relies on the actors performances...In the second half, even when the discussions are serious the humour is still in the air..

Carnage has just one minor flaw (not really),the abrupt end..Its not a flaw if you consider its artistic relevance, but i wanted the show to keep going on...

Carnage is a must-watch...But if you are the sort who like only comedies with a lot of physical humour and gags this may not interest you..

Noah is asked to babysit 3 kids on a night that gradually slips out his control..

Starring- Jonah Hill
Directer- David Gordon Green

David Gordon's second movie of 2011 ,after the mega disappointment "Your Highness"..
Sitter is nothing special ,its the usual teenage kids+drug dealers type movie..Jonah Hill is funny and manages to lead the movie quite effectively...
Comedy is nothing too great, storyline is predictable and doesnt follow much common sense most of the time..

Overall its just a time-pass movie to watch with friends..

Modern Family [3x17]

Modern Family [3x17] Leap Day
TV com Rating-6.2
RJG Rating-10

Mitchel plans Cam's "4th" birthday party ,while Phil's plans for the bonus day gets ruined by the women's "cycle"
Another awesome episode for the show...Nothing much to say actually, cast is wonderful, the comedy was fresh and nicely put forward..

Walking Dead [2x11]

Walking Dead [2x11] 18 Miles Out
TV com Rating-9
RJG Rating-5

Rick & Shane try to drop off their prisoner at a school yard..Back at the farm,Lori & Andrea confront each other due to their clashing ideologies..

Pathetic episode..How can they keep screwing this up? The only saving graces of this episode are the ones where the guys face off a hoard of zombies..That is what Walking Dead is supposed to be about, not stupid quarrels and nagging people to death and keep saying the old principles again again..

The main problem is this whole state of mind the characters are in..Lori continues to bore with her high minded monologues and her "surprised" expression..While Shane has become a complete psychopath..Rick is the only guy who is still the same as he was in Season1..

A new trick tried this time was the interloping timelines..They completely fail in that too..

30 Rock [6x09]

30 Rock [6x09] Leap Day
TV com Rating-8.1
RJG Rating-7

Liz gets to know the "Leap Year Day"...Jack realizes the importance of his time with his daughter..
A sort of strange episode, even in 30Rock standards...The whole Leap Year Williams was fun...Hats off to Kennath..
Overall the show wasnt too funny ,just on the borderline of "WTF" comedy..
