A mother requests her son to avenge his brothers death.

Starring- Ryan Gosling,Vithaya Pansringarm

Director- Nicolas Winding Refn

The acting is pretty much solid ,but it does have some flaws.Leading the way is Ryan Gosling who gives a very good job.BUT there are flaws which i can only put the blame on the director, more on that later.Vithaya Pansringarm who plays the cop, is brilliant and is the highlight of this movie. He brings peace as well as terror in plenty of scenes. In my opinion ,Vithaya is the lead in this movie rather than Ryan.Kristin Scott is another highlight ,and gives a good performance as a villain.

The story. Its simple but is drowned in a sea of over the top symbolism. The story is at most times wierd and empty.Any signs of a coherent story begins in the second half. The first half is empty with long silent shots. Not to mention the weird dream sequences. The lack of dialogues really kill this movie since it would have made the movie better by 10 times atleast.

The direction by Nicolas is a big fail.He tries to create a movie that boasts of some deep psychological meanings ,but instead creates one long boring violent movie which has nothing good to offer. He made Ryan's character completely useless and one sided. The character could have been armed with some dialogues but instead we have Ryan seriously at the edge of going over the top.The pacing is very slow. The first half is confusing and irrational.Only God Forgives had huge potential but Nicolas ruins it ,with too many silent scenes and unnecessary violence.

On the positive side ,theres some great looking scenes.Like the Ryan vs Vithaya fight ,the interrogation scene at the club, plus some excellent cinematography. But its sad that its wasted in this type of a movie.

Overall ,Only God Forgives is NOT for the casual viewers AT ALL.Fans of Nicolas & Ryan's earlier collaboration DRIVE ,can sit through this. The movie tries so hard to be over the top Artistic ,but it just doesnt match up.

JULY Analysis

6 Biggies of July

July will be the last of the packed to the brim of action powered movies.Just like June ,we have one solid animation sequel (Despicable) ,one superhero (Wolverine) ,one apocalypse movie (Pacific Rim) , 2 action comedies (Red2,Lone Ranger),1 action drama (Only God).

Here are my analysis:

Despicable Me 2 - JUL3

story- Gru lives at peace with his 3 adopted daughters, but trouble crops up with the entry of Lucy from the Anti-Villian League. (animation)

+ The cute characters returns. So does the original team behind the first movie.Theres more new characters.

- Theres a slight chance it might go completely into the childish area

Lone Ranger- JUL3

story-A masked hero and a Red Indian Warrior team up to fight against corruption.

+Gore Verbinski (Pirates Of Caribbean) directs this action flick.Johnny Depp as another quirky character is as always an enjoyable watch.

- Casting a superstar as a supporting actor against an upcoming new actor doesnt sound like a great idea.Depp is bound to steal the show and divert attention. On the other hand ,Depp has not been delivering good movies as of late. This movie might just be all action with a weak story

Only God Forgives -JUL9

story-a mother sends her son to avenge the death of his brother.

+Its the much awaited reteaming of Drive ,director Nicolas and actor Ryan Gosling.

-The story might just end up short especially with the huge anticipation for following up a movie like Drive.

Pacific Rim- JUL12

story-When Monsters from the oceans arise , humans build giant robots to defend themselves.

+ This is acclaimed director ,Del Toro's first movie since 2008's Hellboy 2.The trailers looks great, action scenes and visuals look awesome too.

- Chance of being all visuals ,dull story.

Red 2- JUL19

Story-Frank brings together his team to track down a stolen nuclear device.

+ original cast of Bruce Willis,Mary Louise,Malkovich,Helen return.

- Itll be a hard task to replicate the fun of the first.FIlling the movie with too many stars can be too much for the movie to handle.

The Wolverine- JUL26

story- Wolverine travels to Japan and meets an old foe after the events of X-Men 3.

+ The character ,Wolverine is a favorite among all.Huge Jackman returns.Acclaimed director ,Darren Aronofsky was set to direct ,but bowed out due to personal reasons.Considering he liked the script ,the story might be a solid one.

- Although the character is great ,his movies might not be so good.X-Men 3 & Wolverine Origins was met with poor reviews.Lack of a proper villain ,or subpar villains.

Trailer Update

Elysium

Wow!! We have an excellent trailer over here! And that too for Elysium.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIBtePb-dGY

Elysium is the much anticipated movie from the director of District 9.Neill Blomkamp had made a powerful impact in modern sci-fi movies with his 2009 movie ,Districy 9.It took a very difficult topic and mixed it with a very non-typical alien story. With a small budget Neil had wowed critics and viewers alike with his movie. Even with such amounts of success Neill took his time to create another sci-fi meets realistic topics with Elysium. Cant wait for this movie!!

[The concept looks a little bit like this months,Tom Cruise starrer ,Oblivion. But in my opinion ,Elysium looks way better]

Only God Forgives (read description below ,before you just skip it)

For those of you who dont know ,Only God Forgives is the new movie which brings back the director-actor duo of Ryan Gosling & Nicolas Winding ,who made a huge impact with their 2012 movie ,Drive.
Watching the trailer it gives me a familiar sense of Drive along with a strong feeling of some classic Korean flicks.
The synopsis is as follows -
Julian ,the owner of a Thai Boxing club (which is actually a cover up for a drug business) ,is sent by his mother to avenge his brother's murder.
The movie is set for release on July 9 2013 ,and is one of my 46 anticipated movies of 2013!(http://bit.ly/2013BIGGIESrjg)

Gravity
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufsrgE0BYf0
Starring George Clooney & Sandra Bullock ,the movie is about two astronauts lost in space....slowly floating around.
Directed by Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men and Harry Potter 3) ,i will say that i have no interest in these 3 people. The trailer looks okay ,but we are most likely going to see some long winded drama.
What you say? Is Gravity interesting ?
