Definitely the best Bond movie of all time ,Skyfall was a blast.But does it have a chance at the Oscars?Due to some strong competitions this year ,Skyfall wont feature in the major nor in the technical categories.There are some chances of Javier & Judi getting nominations in the Supporting Actor/Actress category.Sound nominations are a possibility.

This years nominees is the tightest competition in recent memory.My Picks are:

TDKR ,Hobbit ,Life Of Pi, Avengers ,Prometheus

Hobbit is guaranteed to make it to the Top 5.The visual effects utilised in the movie is top class and WETA (the vfx company) has previously won 5 Oscars.3 back to back awards for the LOTR trilogy ,and for King Kong and Avatar.

TDKR is another strong contender.Nolan might not use much of CGI ,but he definitely knows how to use them appropriately to maximize its quality.And being one of the major hits of 2012 & the end of TDK trilogy ,TDKR has good chances to make a good impact on the technical nominations.

Avengers is another guaranteed nominee.The movie was filled with visual effects from start to finish ,but they might have just overdone it.

Life Of Pi could make it on a 30%chance.The movie has been critically lauded but it might not win any major awards due to the tight competition.So theres a good chance ,the Academy will hand out a nomination for the visual effects to Pi.

Prometheus,Spider-Man,Cloud Atlas,John Carter tie for the final place.But Prometheus will be my final pick .The entire alien world was brilliantly created and the visuals were just beautiful in it.I loved the visuals of Spiderman ,Atlas & Carter as well ,but as i said ,its a Very tight competition.

Animation of Ice Age 4 is great.Its not brilliant but its follows the standards set by the previous Ice Age movies.Just like the previous movies ,this one too sets up the story in a large environment ,but on the downside this wasnt as colourful as the previous ones.Much of the story takes place on the icy oceans.Characters were nicely drawn too.

The Ice Age series has never boasted of any great story telling.The story is for the kids and the humour is mostly adult orientated.In continental drift ,we have the usual recipe ,daughter and dad have a fight,one of them gets separated and both learn a lesson.And this is littered with enough cliches that its predictable from start to finish.

Direction is generally good.In a story that doesnt offer much surprises ,he does his best to inject some freshness into the movie.The action scenes are ok.The comedy is a bit 'adult' for a kids movie.

Overall ,those who liked the previous Ice Age movies will enjoy this one too.For others ,this movie is more for kids than for adults.

Ted starts to run into trouble with Victoria.

The show has completely lost its grace.Though it was obvious from Season 2 that Victoria wasnt Ted's mother and a breakup was inevitable ,Season 8 stretches the plot and uses the most tiresome 'breakup excuse' - choose Robin or Me.Even though Marshall's role was strange in this episode ,his acting made it tolerable.For a change ,Barney's story was interesting.

Robin tries to break up with Nick

Another totally unrelated episode to the 'mother'.The problem of this entire episode is the fact that we know whats going to happen (Robin & Barney relation) and the writers are stretching this fact too much.Add to the fact theres nothing new at all ,and this is a highly predictable episode.The only relief from this episode other than Barney's irritating behavior was the Marshall-Ted story.So far the show is giving less priority to comedy.

Barney finds it hard to choose a new stripclub.

Atlast a good episode from the show.The highlight being the Marshall story.Barney& Robin's story was also good.Plus it sets a great stage for the upcoming episode based on Marshall's big day.Guest star ,Joe Manganiello as Marshall's friend Brad did a good job.Once again nothing about the mother.

Marshall faces one of his biggest cases.

Surely one of the best episodes of this season so far.Marshall was definitely the highlight of the episode once again.Joe Manganiello as Marshall's friend Brad ,once again gives a good performance.The groups flashbacks were interesting too.The comedy was present but it wasnt as great as the initial seasons.Plus the last 3 min of Barney & Robin was very exhausting to watch.We know they get back together soon ,but yet instead of getting to the point ,the writers ONCE AGAIN decides to stretch the inevitable.Once again absolutely nothing about the mother.

Greg gets extremely bored in the summer with only his video games to his rescue.

The third part of the Wimpy Kid movie series is based on the novels The Last Straw and Dog Days by Jeff Kinney.

The entire cast from the second movie are back for this part as well.Zachary ,who plays the main lead ,gives an ok performance.Steve Zahn as the father has a more bigger role this time.The supporting cast do a good job as well.Devon Bostick as Greg's older brother Roddick ,gives a good performance once again.

The story for Dog Days ,is somewhat familiar to the second part ,Roddick Rules.Theres no new concept or anything.Just the same humiliating and awkward jokes.

Direction of Dog Days is average.Its tone is the same as the previous two and doesnt try to improve itself.Its pacing is quite even and is an enjoyable watch.
Overall,if you liked the previous 2 installments ,Dog Days will be of your liking.

A shop owner creates a 'Neighbourhood Watch' team ,after one of his employees is brutally murdered.

Starring- Ben Stiller,Jonah Hill,Vince Vaughn,Richard Ayoadae
Director- Akiva Schaffer

The Watch has a solid cast ,but all are wasted.Ben Stiller,Jonah Hill and Richard A give a good performance ,but Vince Vaughn is average.They cant be fully blamed for the movies failure ,since they dont have much to work on.

The story for Watch has a good concept but its weighed down by the amount of vulgar and lame jokes.Very few actually hit the mark .The story is dark and could have been a complete horror movie but lining it with gags and jokes makes even the horror parts dull.The characters are poorly made and void of any development.

Direction is generally poor.The pacing is uneven and tends to lag towards the end.

Overall ,Watch is a one time watch for the fans of Ben Stiller ,Jonah Hill ,otherwise its a miss.

Sad news for Sherlock fans

The premiere of Sherlock Season 3 has been postponed to early 2014.This can be directly related to the fact that both the lead characters have been doing some big budget and anticipated movies.

Martin Freeman ,who plays Dr.Watson ,is playing the lead role in The Hobbit Trilogy (2012-2014).
Benedict Cumberbatch ,who plays Sherlock Holmes ,is playing the villian in 2 big

movies.Hes playing the villain in Star Trek 2 and will later on join his Sherlock co-star, Martin in the Hobbit Trilogy ,playing the motion-capture dragon ,Smaug in The Hobbit Trilogy.

Shooting for the Season 3 (which is said to be the final season) was expected to start in Jan 2013 ,but this has been pushed back due to the stars busy schedules.This can be due to the development of The Hobbit trilogy.Hobbit was previously supposed to be a 2part movie ,but Peter Jackson later on wished to expand the middle portion a bit more ,and thus came ,The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) .Jackson will be doing more shooting in Jan 2013 ,and would need both Freeman & Benedict for shooting.

BIG Rumor from Justice League.

One of the biggest rumors floating around today was about who acts as Batman in the 2015 movie -Justice League.And i repeat,this is entirely according to rumors .And the actor being considered is.... Joseph Gordon Lewitt.More specifically ,he will continue his role from that of The Dark Knight Rises .

Spoilers ahead

As those of you may know,the final scene in TDKR shows Joseph's character ,John Robin Blake ,finding Bruce's batcave and gears up to become the next Batman.And with Man of Steel rebooting the Superman franchise in 2013 ,it seems possible that Warner Bros. might connect Nolan's John Blake to the 2015 Justice League.
One of the biggest advantage to this is that they wouldnt need to reboot the Batman series as previously planned.The audience are familiar with John Blake.On top of that ,it will be a new origin for a Batman.So instead of parents death forcing him to become Batman ,the new Batman's origin is simple and more fresh ,that is ,the first Batman handing down the legacy to Blake.
Zack Snyder ,director of Man Of Steel ,previously claimed that his Superman wont be a part of the 2015 Justice League.But now hes hinting that Justice League will have to consider his take on Superman.

As most rumors go ,this might be blasted tomorrow morning.But otherwise its a pretty neat way of linking Nolan's TDK trilogy to Justice League.

Modern Family [4x04] The Butler's Escape

Jay cant stand Gloria's snoring ,while Cam goes for his first teching class.

A good episode from Modern Family.The jokes werent too great but it was ok.Cam's story felt a bit recycled ,while Jay's story was good.But the best jokes were from the Dunphy family.

Middle [4x04] Bunny Therapy

Axle gets confused as to who is girlfriend is ,and the Hecks learn of yet another weird habit of Brick.

Another excellent episode from the show.It was an allround performance from the cast ,especially Axl & Sue .The cast have been doing an amazing work for the past 3 years and they still havnt disappointed.The writers have presented yet another sensible ,humorous and filled with family values episode.

30 Rock [7x02] Governor Dunston

A politician who looks exactly like Tracy presents great opportunity for TGS.Kenneth's parents visit him.
Another good episode from 30Rock ,but nothing great.The acting from the cats is what keeps the show fresh and Tina Fey & Alec Baldwin dont disappoint.

The Big Bang Theory [6x03] The Higgs Boson Observation

Sheldon hires an assistant

Although the episode wasnt very funny ,it was watchable.Howard's story is getting boring and Sheldon & Leonard's plot is recycled.The inclusion of Alex ,the assistant made the recycled plot seem fresh.

Two & a Half Men [10x05] That's Not What They Call It in Amsterdam

Lyndsy tries to hook up Walden with her friends.

Unbelievably ,Two & a Half Men has churned out another great episode.The jokes were well placed and the characters were funny.Plus the addition of an old character gave this episode a spark it needed.I hope they keep this momentum going.

How I Met your Mother [8x04] Who Wants to Be a Godparent?

Lilly & Marshall try to decide on who will be their son's Godparent.

Though the start was dull and tiresome ,things got interesting with Marshall's gameshow.It was a welcome change to the very dull season HIMYM is having with Season8.But once again this has absolutely nothing to do with the 'Mother'.

Walking Dead [3x04] Killer Within

A person inside the prison causes trouble on the survivors.

Walking Dead has got the groove it was missing in season 2 ,and this episode moves smoothly although it has its share of bumps.Rick's story was once again littered with melodrama thanks to Lori & Carl.But with the constant thrill ,its easy to ignore such scenes ,but this has a major effect in the end.<SPOILER ALERT>So when Lori finally dies ,instead of getting sad or even end up missing her ,i gave a sigh of relief.I felt bad that Carl didnt join her ,and got even more upset to know the baby might make Carl a sort of Lori type character.
The second parallel story ,that of the Governor ,is going great.

Dexter [7x03] Buck the System

Dexter feels caged up with Debra keeping a close eye on him.

While the first half was a bit slow,the second half brought back the show its usual intensity.The villain of this season is finally confirmed ,and it looks like the show is getting better and better.It seems the writers have listened to the fans and written off the terrible idea of Debra having feelings for Dexter.

Ghost Adventures [7x03] Point Sur Lighthouse

The GA crew investigate the Point Sur Lighthouse ,a place which has seen dozens of shipwrecks.
This was an excellent episode.There was an episode ,couple of seasons ago ,which had the crew investigate a lighthouse.It was a total flop ,but fortunately this lighthouse was filled with creepiness.Some first class EVP's were recorded before the show ,but the crew failed to get those ,instead real voices were captured.Plus a thermal camera too caught some shocking evidence.

Arrow [1x03] Lone Gunmen

Oliver learns of an assassin ,known as Deadshot.

The show is still floating steadily.Neither is it bad nor can it be certified great.Its an interesting watch at the moment.The melodrama parts have their share of moments ,but the episode was generally ok.The cast are yet to perfect their characters.

Twilight & Skyfall brush off new releases

1-Twilight 5 ,held on to its top place with $43million.The Twilight finale has become a huge hit and has already raked in $577million worldwide.Said to be the best movie of the Twilight series ,Breaking Dawn part 2 is catching up with its predecessors in the box office.

2-Skyfall ,stood strong in 2nd place with $36million.Skyfall has already surpassed a

ll the other 22 James Bond movies and is still going strong at the box office.The movie has made $221million domestically (2nd place is Quantum at $168million) .Worldwide it has made $790million (2nd place is Casino at $599million).As you can see ,Skyfall is miles ahead of its predecessors.

3-Suprisingly Lincoln not only overcame 3 new releases ,it also made more money than its first week.Lincoln made a strong $25million.The movie has already made $62million just from its domestic release ,and easily on course for $100million.

4-Rise of the Guardians ,the new animated movie from Dreamworks made $24million.ROG was expected to do a much bigger business but with its weak opening it looks like a big disappointment.The movie has got good reviews and is rated at 75%.Made at a budget of $145million ,ROG will find it hard to recover its budget especially with the neck to neck competition in the coming weeks.

5-Life of Pi didnt have much expectation in the box office ,but it yet remarkably well making $22million.The movie has got excellent reviews with many praising its breath taking visual effects and heart touching story.It is rated at 86% and is a guaranteed favourite among the Oscars voters..

The 3rd new release ,Red Dawn made it to #7 with $14million.Facing poor reviews and a weak debut ,Red Dawn is heading towards a flop.Its currently rated at 11%.

The next 2 weeks wont have many great movies due to the fact The Hobbit will be releasing soon.This week we have a crime thriller and a horror movie.My pick will be neither.Both are dull.Will rather see Rise of the Guardians.

The Collection: Sequel to the Collector (2009) ,the Collection brings back the notorious villain of the first movie.The movie is currently rate at 100% ,which is quite surprising since these type movies usually get rated less than 30%.The first part wasnt so great (30%) , but the concept was good.

Killing them Softly:Brad Pitt stars in this crime thriller about thieves ,robbing a casino game.The Mob sends Brad Pitt to sort things through.Im not a fan of Brad Pitt ,so i will be giving this one the skip.Initial reviews are highly positive ,and its currently rated at 92%

JTHJ & SOS continue to make magic.Life Of Pi makes grand debut

Jab Tak Hai Jaan [to be declared as Blockbuster]

Yash Chopra's final movie is going with full power.After 2 weeks ,the movie has crossed the Rs.100cr milestone.With Rs.109cr from the Indian market ,this is Shahrukh's 3rd consecutive 100cr movie (Ra.One,Don2 being the earlier ones).

Overseas JTHJ is doing incredible business overseas.The movie has collected Rs.52cr in 10days.

Son Of Sardaar [to be declared as Hit]

Much like JTHJ ,SOS continued to run successfully all over India.The movie is just shy of the 100cr mile stone and currently stands at Rs.94.5cr.But overseas,SOS was clearly overshadowed by JTHJ .SOS has earned around Rs34cr in 10 days.

Life Of Pi

Ang Li's adaptation of the novel about an Indian boy lost at sea with a tiger is doing excellent business.The movie has amassed Rs.19.5cr over the weekend across India.The movie has been critically acclaimed and is a visual delight.

A movie about 2 best friends, a man and his talking teddy bear.

Starring- Seth MacFarlane,Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis
Director- Seth MacFarlane

The highlight of the cast is definitely the CGI animated ,Ted ,voiced by comedian Seth MacFarlane.Mark Wahlberg gives a good support.Its their 'bromance' that drives the whole movie and it works.Mila Kunis plays a role that usually is forgettable ,but she manages to shine and at times overshadows Wahlberg's character.

The story is nothing new.Replace the talking teddy bear with an annoying/party crazy friend ,and youll end up with countless number of films.But ,with the concept of Ted ,Seth manages to bring some freshness to the old story.

Direction is above average.Seth is known for his animated TV show ,Family Guy ,and his transition into the movie world is smooth.The pacing is a bit slow at start ,goes great after that.One of the positives of Ted ,is that the titular character is likable from the start itself.The way such a character is introduced too is nicely explained.Ted carries the same sort of jokes you might see in Family Guy and its definitely not for all.

Overall ,Ted is a pleasant movie to watch ,especially if you are familiar with the type of humor seen in Family Guy and such other shows.

the 3rd fyc ad for TDKR is a brilliant shot of the bat logo burning on the bridge.
TDKR has a 60% chance of getting nominated in the Best Picture.Last time when The Dark Knight was snubbed from the Best Picture category ,the Academy faced universal criticism.Snubbing TDK resulted into expanding the Best Picture nominees from 5 to 10 the very next year.Will the Academy repeat its mistake?

After a very long time ,two and a half men churns out an excellent episode.Even though it reminded me of an episode from the first couple seasons of the show ,it was a welcome change from the dull episodes the last couple of seasons have been producing.Miley Cyrus' guest appearance was perfect.

GA crew a double lockdown on Excalibur Nightclub & the Bachelor's Grove cemetery.
It always is going to be quite inadequate if you are doing a double lockdown.But fortunately its being done on two different nights ,giving both locations a good investigation.But only the cemetery proved to be interesting ,with some strange light movements and a couple of EVPs.As for the club ,it had totally no activity.

Another amazing episode from POI.This one was excellent from start to finish.Acting from the cast was brilliant as usual.But Amy Acker as Root was the highlight.
