Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns [Above Average]

This is the sequel to the 2011 movie Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster.Unlike most hindi sequels that turn up to be garbage compared to the original ,this sequel has not only kept its standard but has also made a good impact at the box office.While the original was a moderate success even with all the good reviews ,the sequel has overtaken the originals collection within its first weekend.SBAGR made Rs.12.75cr ,which is quite a healthy collection.
The movie has been getting very positive reviews with many praising its dialogues and its story.

#1- Oz The Great and Powerful made a powerful opening on its debut with $80million.This is definitely 2013's first real blockbuster (the last one was Hobbit in Dec 2012.)Directed by Sam Raimi and starring James Franco,Mila Kunis ,Oz is a prequel to the classic ,The Wizard of Oz. The reviews have been average though.Franco is being said to be a wrong choice ,and the visual looks go over the top some of the times.The movie has a rating of 61%.

The movie had a solid oversees debut as well with $70million.Oz's budget is $215million ,and it still has a lot of ground to cover.

#2-Jack The Giant Slayer had a steep fall as it slumped to #2 with just $10million.So far the movie has managed to make just $44million domestically and $22million overseas ,making a grand total of $66million.With a budget of $215million ,Jack The Giant Slayer is already 2013's biggest Flop.

#3-Identity Thief continued to make a solid stand.The movie made $6million in its 5th week.The movie is a surprise hit of 2012 ,making $118million from a budget of just $35million.

#4-Dead Man Down the second new release this week ,tanked at debut.Making just #5.3million ,the movie doesnt seem to be strong to keep a hold.The negative ratings did no help either.While the cast was praised ,the dull pace and unwanted twists made the movie look good outside but half baked inside.

#5-Snitch made $5million in its 3rd week.For a movie that was destined to flop badly ,Snitch has somehow floated long enough to make a decent gross of $31million ,solely on domestic market.The Rock magic still shines in 2013 i guess !

This week we have 2 interesting movies.A thriller and a comedy.But my pick of the week will be.....

1-The Incredible Burt Wonderstone -This comedy stars Steve Carrell ,Steve Buscemi and the whacky as always ,Jim Carrey.The trio are amazing comedians and it will be a treat to watch them.The movie is about 2 magicians in Las Vegas ,who begin to face competition from a street magician (Jim Carrey).The current rating of the movie is not very good though.Its rated at 46% ! Still ,this is RJG's PICK OF THE WEEK!

2-The Call ,is a thriller-drama movie starring Halle Berry.The movie is about a 911 operator who gets a shocking call from an abducted girl.The movie seems to be good and i recommend this one if you dont like comedy ,or are in the mood for something good.No reviews have been posted so,The Call is still a mystery card.

Interstellar has not only been CONFIRMED ,it has got a release date as well ,and thats 

NOVEMBER 7 2014 !!

Almost 22 months away,damn.But take all the time you want Mr.Nolan ,diamonds take time to get formed !

As earlier reported ,the original story was written by Jonathan Nolan, in 2009, for Steven Speilberg.But when Steven left the project,Christopher Nolan took up the story and re-wrote it.Its being said that Chris will merge his brother's story ,with a story he already had in mind.The brothers have earlier collaborated the writing duties in movies such as Prestige ,The Dark Knight & more recently The Dark Knight Rises.

So far the synopsis of Interstellar is:

A heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest borders of our scientific understanding.

The movie's main attraction is the star cast.Jason Bateman & Mellissa rock the show from start to finish.Both are at ease and carry the movie at full speed.Both have a certain charm and are equally matched.They have good comic timing and both have enough star power to maintain the show on their own.

The story for IT is a sort of new concept dealing with identity theft.Although it isnt too bright either.The story is simple but isnt too predictable.

Direction by Seth Gordon is good.The pacing of the moving was good too.The comedy could have been much better especially when you have talented stars such as Jason & Melissa at hand.The reaction to IT is mixed.Its a pleasant watch and doesnt dull at any point of time ,but its also not satisfactory and turns into a one time affair.

Overall ,Identity Theft is not too bad nor any good, its a one time watch especially due to the bright performances of the lead.

#1-Jack the Giant Slayer topped the box office with $28million.But the bad news is that this is way below expectations.This big budget movie was made at a whooping budget of $195million.The movie is heading towards a major disaster ,if it fails to spark interest in the overseas market.
The average reviews didnt help its cause either.With a rating of 52% ,the critics were satisfied with the lead actor ,Nicholas Hoult ,but its visual effects and dull story failed to impress.

#2-Identity Thief ,continued its steady hold with $9.76million.Identity has so far been the biggest hit of 2013 ,with a domestic collection of $107million and counting.

#3-21 & Over was another disappointment.The movie was a direct rip off Project X and barely made $9million.The movie got negative reviews ,and currently is rated at 31%.The similarities to Hangover & Project X and its predictable and lame jokes didnt fare too well with the critics.The movie is heading towards the Flop region.

#4-The low budget ,The Last Exorcism Part II failed to make an impact ,grossing just $8million.The movie has been getting negative reviews and is rated at 13%.The movie is said to be better than its first part but the bad reputation of recent hand held horror movies caused Part 2's failure.But with its small budget of $5million ,Part 2 has already made profit.

#5-Snitch had another poor weekend ,as it just made $7million.The Rock action movie has so far made $24million.

Meanwhile The Hobbit Part 1 has crossed the 1 Billion Dollar Milestone !The movie made $301million domestically and $700million overseas.This makes Peter Jackson the third director after James Cameron & Christopher Nolan to have 2 movies make $1billion.Jackson's epic Lord of the Rings finale ,Return of The King was his first movie to make 1billion.At that time (2003) Return of the King was the 2nd movie to cross the milestone ,Hobbit Part 1 is the 15th.

This week we have 2 interesting movies- Dead Man Down & Oz .But my pick of the week will be:-

Dead Man Down - A surprise pick this time.Dead Man Down has not got much marketing but it is directed by Niels Arden (director of the original Girl in the Dragon Tattoo) ,plus has strong leads in the form of Colin Farrell ,Noomi Rapace ,Terence Howard & Dominic Cooper.The story is an action-crime-revenge movie and the trailer was pretty good.So Dead Man Down is RJG PICK OF THE WEEK.

Oz The Great and Powerful- The possible winner among the two new releases is Oz.Directed by Sam Raimi and starring James Franco ,Mila Kunis ,Oz will be a direct pick for the family audiences.The visuals looks great.But i have a feeling it might be following in the steps of the dull Alice In Wonderland.My opinion ,is wait for the reviews before watching this one.

Kai Po Che continued its strong run in its second week ,demolishing the new releases.Based on Chetan Bhagat's hit novel ,3 Mistakes of My Life , and directed by Abhishek Kapoor of Rock On!! ,Kai Po Che has wowed the critics and audiences.

The movie has been praised for its acting and its beautiful friendship story.And it very well has become the first classic of 2013 for Bollywood!

In its second week ,Kai Po made Rs.11cr bringing its total tally to Rs.40cr.

The Attacks of 26/11 [Below Average]

Although the movie has been raking in above average reviews ,the audience were least bothered to  watch this movie.Based on the terrorist attack that took place in Mumbai on 2008 ,Ram Gopal Varma's movie captures the events that unfolded.The major criticism for the movie was its way of presentation which resembles a news type documentary rather than a movie.But the performances of the actors,especially that of Nana Patekar has been praised.

The movie barely made Rs.5.5cr on its opening weekend ,and is most likely heading towards another flop for RGV.

I Me Aur Main [Below Average]

I Me Aur Main suffered from negative reviews but still managed to save some face against the new release with Rs.5.4cr.

Unlike 26/11 ,this movie has been trashed in almost every department.The screenplay was dull and even at 2hrs ,this one seemed to go on forever.The acting of John Abraham was as usual criticized.Chitra & Prachi were under utilized.

NOLAN & BALE MIGHT BE BACK FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE!!

After the current Justice League plans were scrapped ,the whole movie was left in limbo and is entirely relying upon the success of Man of Steel. But latest reports (rumors) are saying that Warner Bros. have convinced Nolan to OVERSEE all their superhero projects ,as he did for Man Of Steel ! Nolan's involvement in Man Of Steel is already reaping excellent positive responses.

As for Bale ,he has said time and time again that he would return as Batman ONLY if Nolan was involved and now things might just work out!

With competition from Avengers 2 ,Justice League needs a giant boost ,and the likes of Nolan & Bale teaming up again for Justice League is nothing short of a miracle.

The proposed idea is to have Christian Bale reprise his role as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman.

Even though im 95% sure ,this isnt going to take place ,the 05% in me is excited like anything!!!

And its placed right into the awards season! Martin Scorsese's The Wolf Of Wall Street is to be released on November 15th 2013.This movie reunites Martin with his favorite actor Leonardo after 2010's Shutter Island.The movie is a crime thriller about a stock broker refusing to take part in a fraud scheme.

Another reason this movie is anticipated is because it will be the last time you are gonna see Leonardo DiCaprio in a movie for a long time (Leo is taking a long break from movies to concentrate on his environment projects)

Gary Oldman joins Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Matt Reeves sequel to Rise Of the Planet Of the Apes ,has got a new lead -Gary Oldman (Gordon from Dark Knight Trilogy)

The current synopsis of this highly anticipated movie is:
The movie takes place 15 years after the events of the first movie.The intelligent apes are ruling most of the world.But a group of human scientists are forming a resistance against the Apes.Meanwhile Caeser tries to maintain order among the apes and the human resistance.

Hobbit Part 3 has been postponed !

Not to worry though ,its postponed by just 6months.Peter Jackson's Hobbit finale was scheduled to release on July 18 2014 ,but New Line Cinemas have pushed it to December 17 2014.This also gives all the Hobbit movies a December release. Hobbit 1 was on Dec13 2012 ,and this year Hobbit 2 will release on Dec13 2013.

This is a good move since summer 2014 is jam packed with highly anticipated movies like X-Men First Class 2,Tomorrowland etc.

Man Of Steel First Reaction

Im not going to hype this too much ,but Man Of Steel has started to screen to limited audience.And the review is ........ HIGHLY POSITIVE !
But this can just be an initial reaction by die hard fans and not much importance given to it.The reports say that the audience were highly thrilled and called it a "Nolan movie with Snyder's visual effects".
Also its completely action packed and not as grim as the trailers have shown,the cape is CGI and looks awesome ,and even a "Best movie of the Year" was thrown around in the comments.

Again,this is just an early reaction and not something to be truly excited about.But its great to know Superman gets a solid Nolan treatment !
