Cheaper By The Dozen (2003)
Cheaper By The Dozen (2003)
IMDB- 5.6
RottenTomatoes- 23
RJG Rating- 25
A couple and their 12 kids move into a new house ,causing mass chaos within the family.
Starring- Steve Martin,Bonnie Hunt
Director- Shawn Levy
Cheaper by The Dozen stars comic star Steve Martin and is adapted from the book bearing the same name. But in reality it doesnt bear any resemblance with the book other than the fact of a couple having 12 kids.
Acting from the group was ok.Steve Martin gives the same performance he usually gives in all his comedy movies.Out of the 12 kids,Hillary Duff & Alyson Stoner give a good performance.
Story is completely predictable. There is a complete lack of originality in CBTD.Its easy to predict the entire movie by watching the first 10-15 min of the movies (for some 5min is enough). The movie is filled to the brim with the usual family story cliches ,and added to this ,there are many thoughtless actions taken by the characters.
Direction by Shawn Levy is overall poor. The movie could easily have put such a great concept into better usage. But instead of doing so,Shawn takes the slapstick route and caters the movie exclusively for kids below 13.The comedy is stale and cliched.
Overall the movie is too kiddish for the grown ups,but the movie will be a timepass view for families.
Acting- 2.5/5
Story- 2/5
Direction- 2/5
Comedy- 1.5/5

Ted ,Mike,Ice Age & Spiderman blast off

The R-Rated comedy ,Ted made a solid opening of
54million.Its the 8th best opening for an R-rated movie.Ted is a
partially animated movie directed by Seth MacFarlane ,from Family Guy,
and co-starring are, Mark Wahlberg & Mila Kunis.Ted defied
expectations by opening to 20million on its opening night. It currently
has a rating of 69% at Rotten Tomatoes.Made at a budget of around
50million,the movie is already a big hit.
The 2nd release of this week , Magic Mike, opened to an excellent collection of 39million.Magic Mike is directed by Steven Soderbergh (Oceans 11 series) and stars Channing Tatum .This is Channing's 3rd release of the year (not counting Haywire ,in which he had a supporting role) after the Vow & 21 Jump Street (both of which made more than 120million). Considering Magic Mike was made with a budget of around 10million,it too is going for a huge hit.It currently is certified fresh at RottenTomatoes with 79%.
Ice Age 4 opened early to international viewers and collected 78million in its opening weekend ,breaking opening records in South American countries.Considering the first 3 Ice Age movies did amazing business, its safe to say the 4th part will follow in the same footsteps.
The Amazing Spiderman opened in parts of Asia and made a solid 50million in its opening weekend. With positive reviews pouring in and a 4th of July opening,Spiderman may make 100million opening in the domestic market.
So far July is looking excellent.Success of Ted & Magic Mike this week, followed up with a guaranteed hit of Spiderman (July 4) ,and later on a mega opening for Ice Age 4 (July 13) ,and topping it off with a box office killer -The Dark Knight Rises (July 20).
